Black Myth: Wukong, booting up!

Waited four years for this, pre-ordered early, passed the performance test well in advance. Even pre-downloaded it, just waiting for it to be served up. And then — let's just say, the first trial on the journey west is the remaining time on "Extracting" hovering around one day?

Unity Hub on Mac: installing a specific arm64 version

I can't install the version I need directly from the Hub. So I went to the official website Archive to find the version. The install URL is unityhub://2022.3.20f1/61c2feb0970d. The install that pops up this way is the Intel version — what do I do if I want the ARM version? Here's the answer from the official website:

Grandma Laid to Rest in Jiangyan

Grandma is buried in Jiangyan. I miss her, and I also find myself thinking about the relationship between life and the universe. Though the place remains and everything else has changed, Grandma's traces will stay in time and space forever. Humans cannot go back to the past, but everyone's trajectory leaves a mark on the universe. I believe that one day, I will meet Grandma again in some way.

Memories of Grandma Bring Me to Tears Again

Today's iPhone memory notification moved me to tears, and the accompanying music stirred up my longing for my grandma. The emotions in the lyrics resonated deeply with how I feel, reminding me of the warmth she once gave me and the regret of her passing. I want to say a prayer for her, and hope she rests in peace in the world beyond.

After finishing Pantheon

After finishing both seasons of Pantheon, I was deeply struck by its ideas about reincarnation and recursion. The endless universes and possibilities shown in the series made me reflect on the meaning of life, and also led me to try healing my inner self through books. I feel pain, but I also see hope, and I believe that in an infinite universe, there is always a chance of meeting again. I choose to live in the present and cherish every moment of life.

《The Wandering Earth II》, highly recommended

Legacy, unity, responsibility, hope. A song of human courage. Long live the great unity of the world's peoples. Human civilization needs this kind of spiritual nourishment. In a few decades, our country will surely see the rise of a new generation of scientists who grew up watching The Three-Body Problem and Little Broken Ball.

The universe remembers everything — love that never fades away

The heated debate these past few days over whether it's 「于是人」 or 「于斯人」 got me thinking about my grandma again. I really want to go back to my hometown and dig through my old books, find my middle-school Chinese textbook, and see what the original text actually was — seeing is believing, after all. My grandma is in Jiangyan, and all my childhood textbooks are there too; she kept them all at home. Sigh, but sadly they're gone now, one after another. The home is gone, my grandma is gone. Those connections have been severed beyond repair.

The stars guard the sea

Dreamed I took a train away from the cemetery 🪦. Along the way, so many people were burying their loved ones. Thinking that I would never have Grandma again, I cried myself awake. The greatness of a generation and its sacrifice for its children and grandchildren—years from now, their children's children should know it and remember it too. In a world of blooming flowers, the stars guard the sea and never leave. One day we too will walk toward you and turn into stars. Where our light cones intersect, we will meet again.

Goal-based vector field pathfinding

A goal-based vector field pathfinding method that helps agents navigate efficiently by generating a heat map and a vector field. It walks through the algorithm's three steps: generating a heat map that describes distance along the path, creating a vector field pointing toward the goal, and using the vector field to steer agents' movement. How to solve the local optimum problem, and how subdividing the grid optimizes path computation to make pathfinding more stable and efficient.

Notes on dealing with Google Play's 64-bit requirement in an old cocos project

I've got an old project, and to solve the problem of Google requiring 64-bit support, I was getting ready to upgrade cocos a bit — then found out it wasn't necessary. Supposedly you just need to compile a 64-bit build. I vaguely remember deleting arm64-v8a back then. Google's guide: https://developer.android.com/distribute/best-practices/develop/64-bit#test\_your\_app\_on\_64-bit\_hardware describes three cases — building with Gradle, with CMake, with ndk-build — and they're all different. From my testing, cocos2dx turns out to be ndk-build mode, which depends on the PROP\_APP\_ABI setting in gradle.properties.
